This Focus Issue, entitled Data-Driven Models and Analysis of Complex Systems, highlights recent advances in the study of complex systems, with a particular emphasis on data-driven research. Our editorial explores a diverse array of topics, including financial markets, electricity pricing, power grids, lasers, the Earth’s climate, hydrology, neuronal assemblies and the brain, biomedicine, complex networks, real-world hypergraphs, animal behavior, and social media. This diversity underscores the broad applicability of complex systems research.

This research topic was entitled Advancing Our Understanding of Structure and Function in the Brain: Developing Novel Approaches for Network Inference and Emergent Phenomena, which was published in Frontiers in Physics.
The work in this Research Topic advances our understanding on complex systems at large, and on the inner workings of the brain. The reader will find novel analytical and computational results on biophysics as well as the mathematical-models pertaining to complex systems and network neuroscience.
A.C. Martí and N. Rubido, "Dynamics Days Latin America and the Caribbean 2018", MDPI Math. Comput. Appl. 24 (2019).
This proceeding consisted on editing a set of selected papers presented at the Dynamics Days Latin America and the Caribbean (DDays LAC 2018) conference, which happened in Punta del Este at the end of November of 2018. Papers considered to fit the scope of the journal and to be of sufficient quality after evaluation by the reviewers were published free of charge in the Mathematical and Computational Applications journal.
Contributions ranged from experimental, computational, and theoretical research in all areas related to non-linear dynamics, including (but not limited to) chaos, control theory, non-equilibrium statistical physics, complex networks and systems, computational methods, fluid dynamics, granular materials, neural dynamics, non-linear waves, pattern formation, quantum chaos, stochastic processes, and systems biology.
