What Do We Teach?
We use both the Old and New Testaments as the foundation for our faith and the inspiration for our daily lives. We put those teachings into practice at home and at work. We believe in no creed but Christ. We are a conservative congregation with traditional values.
What Are Our Core Values?
Just as Jesus said in the Beatitudes, blessed are the poor and the hungry. Our mission is not just to love one another, but to make sure we spread the love of the Gospels everywhere.
First Christian Church of Wylie believes in:
Where the Scriptures speak, we speak; Where the scriptures are silent, we are silent
Weekly communion with an open table
Baptism by immersion
For over 137 years, First Christian Church of Wylie has provided an open, loving fellowship in which people of all ages and development have been invited to come to know and grow in Christ. Our vision, as a community of faith, is to touch the growing population of Wylie and surrounding communities through new outreach ministries.
First Christian Church of Wylie, Texas has served Wylie and the surrounding area since February 1887, a proud heritage that continues to grow and address the spiritual needs of all ages.
Starting as a Disciples of Christ church, the congregation voted to change their affiliation to the Disciple Heritage Fellowship in 2007. While maintaining ties with our past, we are led to reach out to the future in our work for Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Our congregation is self-governing, with 5 elders and 10 deacons serving on the board accountable to the congregation. The board officers are the Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. We have a mix of men and women in leadership roles.
