What is Enrichment @ MD?
All kindergarten, first, and second grade students at Mount Daniel Elementary School receive enrichment services as part of the Encore rotation. Students attend art, music, STEAM, library, PE, and Spanish classes every week, and Tech, Enrichment, and Counseling classes every other week.
Enrichment lessons focus on problem-solving skills and are organized by thinking strands: divergent (creative) thinking, convergent (one-right-answer) thinking, visual-spatial thinking, and evaluative thinking.
Click the grade level buttons below to learn more about lessons in each grade.
Small groups of first and second graders who demonstrate the need for advanced academic support also have the opportunity to participate in small Think Lab groups that meet weekly for six-week sessions to explore various topics in math, English language arts, and logic.
Meet Mrs. Green
Mrs. Green is the Enrichment Coordinator at Mount Daniel. Her favorite thing is asking kids questions and learning new things from their answers (she calls herself a "recovering lawyer," but somehow she can't seem to shake her devotion to the Socratic Method). She has a husband, two kids, two dogs, an obnoxious wardrobe, and a maddening tendency to refer to herself in the third person. Click on the picture if you would like to know more.
