Middle school. For our students this is a big change from elementary school.  It's new experiences and expectations. They are growing up and out. There are attitudes and smells. Their interests and friend groups are changing and they are trying new things. For adults, we are contending with our children's reactions to all of this, and trying to make sure they are successful in middle school while simultaneously trying to instill personal responsibility. This is definitely not the time in their lives to let them go it alone. They need you, even if they say otherwise. Middle school is a three year adventure. I hope you are  wearing comfortable shoes.
