February Students of the Month!
Congratulations to all our hard working students who were honored as our Students of the Month!
One School, One Book- The Chocolate Edition
by: Sydney Mynatt
Throughout the month of February, our school read a book together titled The Chocolate Touch. This activity was called One School One Book. The school provided the family of each student with a copy of the book along with a reading schedule. The schedule kept students on track with their reading. To make this activity even more exciting, the broadcasting staff asked trivia questions about the previous nights’ chapter. I enjoyed the book and its message. We could all learn something from it. I hope you and your family enjoyed it as well.
CLES Family Dance
In years past, we have enjoyed a Mother/Son event, and a Father/Daughter Dance. However, this year we had our first annual FAMILY dance which meant that the whole family could come out and enjoy some time together and some fun dancing! Here are just a few pictures below from our fun night at CLES!
Media center News
February started off with a BANG from the McIntosh High School Swim Team as we celebrated National Read Aloud Day! The swim team was here at CLES bright and early to greet students as they arrived at school, and then each classroom was visited by a team member to read a book to the class. It was a fun way to start February!
The media center was also the center of attention as we read The Chocolate Touch, our second One School, One Book of the year. Families enjoyed reading a chapter a night during the week and then students could participate in class discussions, morning broadcast on trivia, and more. This is our second year of One School, One Book and it has been something fun our whole school can participate in together!
Tech Time
by: Sydney Mynatt
This month was a little short due to Winter Break, but we did get to spend some technology time with Mrs. Stroud. Fifth graders got the chance to enhance their programming skills by using a program called Comparison Ops Chase Game in the Scratch App. In the game, you had to get your bird to touch a star five times without getting hit by a lightning bolt. The game was was really fun, and I always look forward to what Mrs. Stroud has planned for us to do each time we visit her classroom.
Candy Grams
by: Sebastian Reiners and London Maihorn
Candy grams are something special to give a sibling, friend, or teacher. One candy gram costs only one dollar. On a candy gram you write a note to whoever the candy gram is for and they will also receive a yummy blow pop with the note delivered to their classroom on Valentines day. You should receive a sheet of three candy grams. You do not have to buy any, or you could buy all three and ask your teacher for more. All of the money collected will be going toward fifth graders. It would be nice to decorate the candy gram. On the candy gram you order you could write a message like “I love you”, or “You’re so nice”, or “You’re such an awesome friend”, or really anything you would like to say.
Pictures from Around CLES

Zeth Bowman went around the school to take some quick, candid shots of all the creativity and hard work that goes into making our building so great. Take a look at some scenes you could find around CLES in January and February!
