Attendance/Absences

Regular school attendance is a strong indicator of school success. Students at Redwood need regular contact with peers of the same age, and benefit greatly from the learning opportunities provided by classroom teachers. Please build a strong habit of good school attendance.  If a child is absent from school for any reason, guardians are responsible for contacting the school to inform us of the reason. You may clear absences through Parent Square, or you can send a note with your child or call the office. You may also clear the absences in person at the school office. Students with three or more unexcused absences will be required to meet with the principal, and may be invited to participate with other community agencies as part of the School Attendance Review Board (SARB), if poor attendance persists.

Tardiness

Students are late if they arrive at school after 8:20 AM.  Arriving more than 30 minutes late will result in a “late tardy”. Three unexcused late tardies equal one unexcused absence.  Being tardy prevents your child from receiving academic instruction, and interrupts the learning of other students. Thank you for helping your Redwood student arrive on time.

La asistencia regular a la escuela es un fuerte indicador de éxito escolar. Los estudiantes de Redwood necesitan contacto regular con compañeros de la misma edad y se benefician enormemente de las oportunidades de aprendizaje que brindan los maestros de clase. Por favor desarrolle un fuerte hábito de buena asistencia escolar. Si su hijo falta a la escuela por cualquier motivo, los tutores son responsables de comunicarse con la escuela para informarnos el motivo. Puede borrar las ausencias a través de Parent Square, o puede enviar una nota con su hijo o llamar a la oficina. También puede aclarar las ausencias en persona en la oficina de la escuela. Los estudiantes con tres o más ausencias injustificadas deberán reunirse con la directora, y se les puede invitar a participar con otras agencias comunitarias como parte de la junta de revisión de asistencia escolar (SARB), si la asistencia deficiente persiste. 

Tardanzas

Los estudiantes llegan tarde si llegan a la escuela después de las 8:20 am. La llegada con más de 30 minutos de retraso resultará en una "tardanza tardía". Tres tardanzas injustificadas equivalen a una ausencia injustificada. Llegar tarde evita que su hijo reciba instrucción e interrumpe el aprendizaje de otros estudiantes.
