Course Descriptions and Objectives
English 10 and 11- Throughout the semester, we will be focusing on expository text, with an emphasis placed on the California Common Core Standards. This includes working with technology, reading novels, short stories, articles, poetry, and drama. Writing instruction will emphasize structure and style and will include interactive journals, various types of essays, papers, and speeches. Spelling, vocabulary, and grammar will be emphasized. Not only will we explore the literary world, but we will also explore the world in which we live. Public speaking, developing 21st century skills, career exploration, and community awareness will be incorporated throughout the year, while we work on making lifelong connections.
English 11-To become stronger readers of both fiction and non-fiction, more confident writers in a variety of forms, and to hone our critical thinking skills.

About me: I started teaching 20 years ago.
My wife and I moved here last year from Colorado. We have two cats and a dog.
I love riding mountain bikes, hiking, gardening and anything culinary.
I believe in second chances.
Teaching, to me, is about the relationship that develops between people.
I have been working since I was a pre-teen. I worked delivering newspapers, at a grocery, at the cemetery, and a summer camp all before I was old enough to drive. I have cooked and baked professionally, been a limo driver, and operated landscaping equipment.
