I was born in Washington, D.C. in 1966. During my 4th grade year, my family moved to Berkeley, CA. A few year later we moved again, this time to the Southern Humboldt area where I eventually attended South Fork High School (Class of 84). After High school, I attended Chico State University where ia earned my B.A.. While attending college, I took a year off and was an intern for Congressman Doug Bosco. I eventually went to grad school at SF State where I earned a Master's Degree in History. Next, I got a teaching credential from Dominican University. I have taught in Fort Bragg Unified for the past 23 years (the last 20 at the high school). I have also taught a variety of history courses at Mendocino College for the past eleven years.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy playing guitar and writing songs, listening to music (I once owned a small music store in Mendocino called Red Rooster Records), reading (both fiction and nonfiction), sports (I am a huge Baltimore Oriole and Washington Commanders fan!), watching movies, stand-up comedy and spending time with my son.
