SPARK consists of two different playground categories: Student Playground and Community Playground.
Please scroll below to learn about both.
Student Playground Concept: A vibrant, interactive space where students become the teachers, showcasing their digital skills and guiding others in using technology.
Each group will have one table in the cafeteria. Electricity will be provided.
The playground area will be open to the public during the Showcase from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM. It is recommended to create a schedule and allow your students to rotate through working the playground table in shifts so they can experience live challenges and other opportunities at SPARK.
Boards and displays are welcome but not necessary. The goal is for students to teach and others to be hands on and learn.
The Playground is NOT judged.

The sky is the limit!!! What are your students currently working on that they could share? Here are just a few examples to use as inspiration:
Makey Makey Masters: Students demonstrate how to turn everyday objects into musical instruments, game controllers, and more using Makey Makey kits. They can set up interactive art pieces or even a simple game.
Drone Zone: Students showcase basic drone piloting skills in a controlled environment. They can set up an obstacle course for others to navigate or demonstrate aerial photography/videography.
Stop Motion Studio: A designated area with backdrops, props, and lighting for students to create and present their stop motion animations. They can guide others on the process, from storyboarding to capturing frames.
Coding Corner: Students can display their coding projects on laptops or tablets. This could include simple games, animations, or even a basic website. They can help others learn the basics of coding languages like Scratch or Python.
VR/AR Experience: If available, students can showcase virtual reality (VR) or augmented reality (AR) experiences. They can guide others on how to use VR headsets or demonstrate AR apps that bring digital elements into the real world.
Show & Tell Stage: Students present of their digital creations. This could include short films, musical performances with electronic instruments, or demonstrations of innovative technology projects.
Robotics: Students can showcase their robot creations using kits like LEGO Mindstorms or Arduino. They can set up obstacle courses or demonstrations of how their robots can perform tasks.
Green Screen Studio: A dedicated area with a green screen where students can create special effects for videos or photos. They can guide others on how to use green screen technology and create their own unique content.
Digital Storytelling Zone: Students can use tablets or computers to create interactive stories.
3D Printing Zone: If your school has 3D printers, students can showcase their 3D printed creations and guide others on the 3D printing process, from design to printing.
Canva Creations: Become visual storytellers and develop essential design skills using a fun and intuitive platform like Canva
Community Playground Concept: To spark curiosity and inspire the next generation of STEM innovators by providing a fun, accessible, and educational experience for families. Your participation will be invaluable in making this event a success. We encourage you to get creative and design an activity that is:
Interactive and Engaging: Think hands-on experiments, demonstrations, challenges, or games that allow families to actively participate and learn.
Age-Appropriate: Consider activities that can be adapted for different age groups or offer varying levels of complexity.
Educational: Connect your activity to a STEM concept or principle, making learning fun and accessible. Feel free to share resources that promote your business and educational related events.
Safe and Supervised: Ensure your activity is safe for all participants and that you have adequate staff to supervise and guide attendees.
Each community partner will have a designated space located throughout the common areas of the event. We will provide tables, chairs and electricity as needed.
The playground area will be open to students and their families from 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM.
Thank you to our 2025 Community Playground Partners.
