FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT ARE MY COURSES?  

On your middle/high school schedule, you'll see a placeholder instructor (may be a guidance counselor at your school or Southside). When you arrive at Southside, you'll receive a new schedule for just Southside, and we'll direct you to where to go!  Check out more information on each program HERE! 

HOW DO I GET TO SOUTHSIDE? 

All students have bus transportation from their high school to Southside and back. If students are riding the bus, they are considered on time when the bus gets here. Curious about which bus you're on and where it picks up? Click HERE for more information.  Students who have a FCPS student parking permit and who complete the Southside Student Driver documentation may drive to and from Southside. Student drivers can start the first week, but they must complete their paperwork as soon as possible. Student drivers need to arrive by the session times below. 

HOW DOES MY SCHEDULE WORK? 

Students attend during the AM or PM session and eat breakfast and lunch at their high school. The session times are listed below: 

WHAT SHOULD I BRING AND WEAR? 

For your first week at Southside, don't worry about what to wear! Southside follows the FCPS Code of Conduct, and our entire dress code is available in our Student Handbook. Students receive information about what to wear for their specific program once they arrive. You should bring your FCPS chromebook as soon as you receive it from your sending school. 

WHAT IF I MISS THE BUS OR RUN LATE ON THE FIRST DAY? 

Do your best to be on time, but if you miss the bus or are running late, don't worry! Give us a call at (859) 381-3603 or report to your high school office if you need help. 

WHEN IS SOUTHSIDE'S OPEN HOUSE? 

We'll announce Open House before the end of the school year! Visit our building, meet your instructors and faculty, and see what being a Southside student is all about! We can't wait to meet you and have you this year as a Transformer! 

EMT, Pre-Nursing, and Pre-Pharmacy: We will have a student and family meeting for your programs during the Open House to share information about your specific program requirements and needs!
