Each year, Literary Arts 3 hosts the Young Writers Conference in collaboration with the Carnegie Center for Literacy and Learning. Young writers from around the Bluegrass are invited to attend panels designed and taught by the young writers in the SCAPA Literary Arts Program. The program ends with a Keynote Reading by a young writer and an adult writer who has inspired young writers through their words or mentorship. This year's conference will by on March 23rd and planning for this event is underway.
In 2025 the Young Writers Conference partnered with The James Baker Hall Foundation to extend the reach and prestige of the event. Their unparalleled investment in young writers allows the students to provide a professional experience to writers from around the state including the Ironwood Writers at Hindman Settlement School.
