The Math, Science, and Technology Center (MSTC) began in 1990 and is a program designed for students that are gifted in math or science. The program offers a rigorous curriculum, broad choice in class options, and the opportunity for an independent research project with a university mentor.
Hello, I'm Alexander Staykov and I graduated from MSTC in 2025. In my free time, I enjoy playing basketball, spending time with my schnauzer named Otto, and listening to music. I like photography, cars, and biology. My Capstone project focused on various genetic modifications and their impacts on the actin structure in plant seeds. I am going to continue this research under the same lab at the University of Kentucky over the coming years, and I hope to eventually pursue a career in plant science research.
