The Math, Science, and Technology Center (MSTC) began in 1990 and is a program designed for students that are gifted in math or science. The program offers a rigorous curriculum, broad choice in class options, and the opportunity for an independent research project with a university mentor.
My name is Samuel Nunez Turcios, and I am a recent MSTC graduate from Dunbar. I’ve swam competitively for a long time. Although I’m not competing in college, I’m currently a coach for my summer league team. I also play the cello and hope to keep playing in the future. I like watching/playing sports with my friends, sleeping when I can, scrolling, and listening to music, especially Bad Bunny. My research project is focused on developing and optimizing new quinone molecules to be used in redox flow batteries. There’s still a lot for me to do in this field as I continue research with my current mentor this fall at the University of Kentucky while studying Chemical Engineering. Go BBN!
