Meet mr. Briggs

Ryan Briggs has been a theatre practitioner for more than half of his life and has taught theatre to middle and high school students for the past ten years in Lexington. He has taught Drama at Tates Creek Middle School for the past seven years, and prior to that he taught for three years at Sayre School.

He received his Masters degrees in Theatre Arts and in Secondary Education from the University of Kentucky, and recently served as Vice President on the board of directors of Kentucky Theatre Association.

As a native Lexington actor and director, he has had bountiful opportunities. He has performed at Kentucky Conservatory Theatre, AthensWest Theatre Company, Studio Players, Balagula Theatre, Paragon Music Theatre, Adventure Theatre & Phoenix Group Theatre; He has also performed regionally at Jenny Wiley Theatre, Kincaid Regional Theatre, Woodford Theatre, Ragged Edge Theatre, and Richmond Area Theatre.

Some of his favorite plays to act in are Narrator of A Christmas Story (which he has done 4 times so far), Gary in Noises Off, and Algernon in The Importance of Being Earnest. His favorite plays to direct have been Elf Jr, Puffs, and The Short Tree & the Bird Who Could Not Sing. He is proud to be a theatre advocate and educator for Kentucky and to inspire future generations of theatre artists.
