Continuing with our talk about government and laws, today in class we looked at Hammurabi's code of laws. We will continue evaluating the DBQ tomorrow in class.

September 17

Constitution Day! In class we watched a dramatization about what our country might look like without the Bill of Rights. After the video we participated in a class discussion about the effects of these rights.

September 16

Today we finished our inquiry study on Mesopotamia. Unit test (Prehistoric Times and Mesopotamia )will take place next Monday, September 23. A study guide will be given in class later this week.

September 13

In class we started our first inquiry lesson. We are evaluating artifacts from Mesopotamia and what it tells us about their culture. We got 3 stations done in class the rest will be completed on Monday.

All grades from the retakes have been updated and noted in IC.

September 12

Today we finished our Frayer Model Vocabulary. We have done: Cuneiform, irrigation. scribe, canals, civilization, polytheism, specialization, and ziggurat. In class students turned in their First Empires packet after we completed the Hittites and Chaldean's section together.

Retake is available tomorrow ONLY starting at 8:35 in my room. The highest score will be put into the grade book.

September 11

Today we added 2 more words to our Frayer Model Vocabulary. So far we have done: Cuneiform, irrigation. scribe and ziggurat. In class students continued to work on the First Empires Packet (Mesopotamia) If students did not get to the Assyrians page finished (page 12) it is to be completed for homework.

Students also received back the copies of their Prehistoric Times Quiz and scores. If they would like to retake the ONLY time to do so is this Friday at 8:35 in my room. The highest score will be put into the grade book.

September 10

In class we walked through together the Frayer Model for Vocabulary and did the first two words of the unit cuneiform and irrigation. We will add two words each day this week. Students also finished the Mesopotamia notes and started a packet on the First Empires that we will finish in class tomorrow.

September 9

Today we started our studies of Mesopotamia. We first took notes and discussed what the characteristics of a civilization is and how Mesopotamia fit the criteria of a civilization.

September 6

Students took a quiz over Prehistoric Times and then we worked on organizing and setting up our notebooks/binders. These will be turned in at the end of the unit for a test grade.

September 5

In class today we read together an article of the History and secrets of Stonehenge. Students also turned in their webquest and got back their graded maps.

Tomorrow will be a quiz over Prehistoric Times- Paleolithic and Neolithic Notes.

September 4

Today in class students finished and turned the Lascaux Webquest. If not done in class it is to be completed for homework. Assignment is on Google Classroom.

September 3

Today in class students turned in their map projects and we took notes on the Neolithic Age. We also started the Lascaux Webquest which we will finish in class tomorrow. Assignment is on Google Classroom.

Today in class we watched a Discovery Channel Video on Neanderthals and life in the Paleolithic Age.

Map Project due Tuesday.

August 27

During class today students took notes on the Paleolithic Age and started a video about the Neanderthals. Please do not forget that Map Projects are due a week from today. See below for examples and information.

August 26

During class today students took notes on Prehistoric Times and completed a worksheet on Archaeology. For the Accelerated class we looked at the movie version of an archaeologist (Indiana Jones) and compared it to what a real archaeologist does.

Today students participated in a Gallery Walk to identify different types of maps. Don't forget Map Projects are Due September 3.
