Given the nature of our liberal arts program, our students are able to participate in a vast array of diverse experiences throughout high school. One size does not fit all here. In addition to outstanding academic performances, we have top notch debaters, athletes, musicians & writers.

Beyond the Numbers
The Liberal Arts Academy has had more students selected to attend the National Security Language Initiative for Youth program than any other high school in the country. Students have studied abroad in Russia, Turkey, India, Korea and Morocco.
Liberal Arts Academy students are a force on the school's state championship Debate Team. Academy students took 1st place last year in 4 of the 6 debate events: Lincoln-Douglas Debate (Novice Division), Policy Debate, and Public Forum Debate (both Novice & Varsity Divisions). Academy students were runners-up in the other two events: Congress & Lincoln-Douglas Debate (Varsity Division).
Henry Clay's Model United Nations - the only program of its kind in the state - is winning national and international recognition, led by the success of its Liberal Arts Academy members. Students competed virtually in six conferences, including one of Europe's oldest conferences at Cambridge, winning awards at all.
Liberal Arts Academy students consistently win writing awards, from local and state contests to college level awards. In 2021, Academy freshmen swept the Jay Ogden Essay Contest sponsored by the Lexington League of Women Voters. Academy freshmen also swept the University of Louisville McConnell Center's Reflection and Choice Essay Contest. An Academy senior took 2nd place in the Bennington College Young Writers Awards for Fiction. Another Academy senior won the Optimist Club's 2021 Essay Contest.

Ten Academy musicians named to KMEA All-State ensembles in band and orchestra in 2021
