I'm Kathryn Chastain and I'm excited to begin my 26th year at LHS as YOUR YSC Coordinator. One of the things I love the most about my job is watching students evolve from timid freshmen into independent and confident seniors! This crazy Kat lady loves working out, traveling, the beach, SUMMER, and all things football! This year I am a Logistical Coach for our football team.
The LHS YSC exists to remove non-academic barriers that keep students from learning in the classroom. This is accomplished through a variety of programs. The biggest YSC program is our food program (see specifics below). Last year, 2,855 different bags (valued at $36,290.42 ) were given to 254 students and there were 95 visits to the General Pantry. These numbers were made ONLY made possibly by the hundreds of donations that the LHS community provided. Parents, students, staff, and our community have binded together to make this program successful. I could NOT do this program without a partnership with FEED, the LHS community, faithful volunteers, our incredible LHS parents.

The YSC has a few different food programs at LHS!
Weekend Food Bags - students come by the YSC on Fridays or the last day of a week during 4th block and pick up their weekend bag. These items are intended to supplement food needed on the weekends. To enroll your child, please click here
General Pantry - The General Pantry offers a variety of food products including frozen meats, canned food, and other items. Families can visit once a month without a referral. Pantry pick ups are on Wednesday and should be scheduled using this appointment link or by calling Ms. Chastain at 859-422-1802. Pick ups are at the back of LHS (off of Springhill Drive) at door 17C.

At the end of each year, the YSC has to purge many food items as they expire over the summer. Help us re-stock the pantry in as we prepare to serve our students as they return to school. My current amazon wish list is here .
