Welcome
Welcome
Welcome to the HILL!
We're so excited to have you as a student at the Hub for Innovative Learning and Leadership during our opening school year!
At The HILL, you’re not just a student; you’re a creator, a problem-solver, and a changemaker. This is a place where learning is hands-on, BIG ideas are encouraged, and your voice truly matters.
You’ll work alongside industry professionals, tackle real-world challenges, and build skills that set you up for career success. Whether you’re diving into a project, collaborating with a team, or exploring something completely new, we’re here to support you every step of the way. I can’t wait to see what you’ll accomplish this year!
With excitement and anticipation,
Ms. Michelle Wilson, Principal & Lead Learner
Spaces in the former Herald-Leader building, which Fayette County Public Schools has fully renovated, include administration areas on each floor for easier student support, labs and classrooms, and collaborative breakout areas. The building also features energy-efficient designs, which are a priority for our district.
Students have already taken the lead in shaping their learning spaces -- choosing classroom seating, designing flexible shared spaces, and selecting materials that enhance collaboration and creativity. Students also contribute to other key decisions, ensuring a school built for and by them.
Intentional Integration: Our approach integrates career pathways, emerging technologies, and transferable skills to provide students with interdisciplinary, project-based learning that mirrors real-world industry practices.
Synergistic Partnerships: We cultivate dynamic industry collaborations through real-world experiences and innovative internships.
Research & Development: The HILL fosters a culture of curiosity and innovation where students actively experiment, prototype, and refine ideas alongside industry experts, creating immediate value in real-world applications.
Students who have completed initial coursework in their pathways can earn high school credit for paid & unpaid experiences.
Students can earn college credit from various postsecondary institutions while fulfilling high school graduation requirements.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the HILL’s daily schedule?
Check out our schedule! Students can be enrolled in either AM or PM for A Day, B Day, or both A & B Days (if taking two programs).
What courses am I taking?
On your high school schedule, you'll see a placeholder instructor (may be a guidance counselor at your school or The HILL). When you arrive at The HILL, you'll receive a new schedule for just The HILL, and we'll direct you to where to go! Meet our instructors HERE.
What if I want to change my program?
If you were not accepted to your first choice program, you may be on the waitlist for that program. If so, we'll reach out if a spot becomes available!
If you have questions about your schedule, reach out to our counselors at the emails below.
How do I get to The HILL?
All students have bus transportation from their high school to The HILL and back. If students are riding the bus, they are considered on time when the bus gets here. Curious about which bus you're on and where it picks up? Click HERE for more information. Students who have a FCPS student parking permit and who complete The HILL Student Driver application may drive to and from The HILL. Student drivers can start the first week, but they must complete their paperwork as soon as possible.
Miss the bus the first day? No problem. Do your best to be on time, but if you miss the bus or are running late, don't worry! Give us a call at (859) 422-2112 or report to your high school office if you need help.
What do I need to bring and wear?
For your first week at The HILL, you don't need to bring or wear anything special. The HILL follows the FCPS Code of Conduct, and our entire dress code is available in our Student Handbook (coming soon). Students receive information about what to wear for their specific program once they arrive. You should bring your FCPS chromebook as soon as you receive it from your sending school.
