Julie Foster has taught as Director of Orchestras at Henry Clay High School in Lexington, Kentucky since 2005. After attending the University of Kentucky and University of Louisville on performance scholarships to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Education and Master of Music in Violin Performance, she completed her Rank I Certification in Music Education while in post-master’s studies at Eastern Kentucky University. Ms. Foster performs professionally as a section violinist with the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra. Professional memberships include the Lexington Musicians Association, Kentucky Music Educators Association, and the National Association for Music Education. Past honors include First Prize at Louisville’s Macauley Chamber Music Competition, the Thomas E. Kaufman Award from Chautauqua Institution’s School of Music, and induction into the Kentucky Academy of Governor’s Scholars. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, reading, and travel, but most of all spending time with her family.
