Meet Your Library Media Specialist!
Hello! My name is Christie Ping and I am thrilled to be the Library Media Specialist at Garrett Morgan Elementary! I am so excited to have my DREAM job! I am a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University where I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. I then graduated from Western Kentucky University where I received my Master’s Degree in Library Science. The 2021-2022 school year will be my 14th year in education and my sixth year as Garrett Morgan's Library Media Specialist! Before GME, I was the Library Media Specialist at Harrison Elementary in Fayette County for three years and I taught third & fourth grade for five years in Fleming County.

Along with being the Library Media Specialist at GME, I am also the Student Technology Leadership Coordinator, Battle of the Books Coach, Digital Citizenship Coordinator, Digital Learning Coach, and one our School Technology Coordinators.

I live in Lexington, but call Maysville, KY home. I love to read! Some of my favorite children’s books include Charlotte’s Web, Pete the Cat, Harry Potter, and any Graphic Novel I can get my hands on. Along with reading, I enjoy learning and using technology, baking, gardening, traveling, and spending time with my daughter Madelyn and husband Erik. I believe that everyone is a reader…some just haven’t found their favorite book yet!
