Welcome to Ashland GTAP!
We are a self-contained gifted and talented accelerated program in Ashland Elementary that services students in fourth and fifth grade from surrounding schools. Students in our program receive accelerated and enriched instruction in math, language arts, science, and social studies every day. We have WIN (What I Need) time built into each school day, where students work on class, group or individual work and/or projects. Ashland is an arts integrated school where students receive enrichment in art, dance, drama, or voice each week. Students may choose to receive band or orchestra instruction weekly. Extra curricular opportunities at Ashland include Chess Team, Governor's Cup Team, Gaming Club, basketball, cheerleading, cross country, archery, Beta Club, Student Council, and STLP.

I am the fourth and fifth grade GTAP science teacher. I love to offer my students opportunities to explore science through authentic problem based learning. I promote creativity in asking students to think fluently (generating many ideas), create original products to show understanding, elaborate on what group members contribute, and to be flexible in ways to solve problems. I believe my students are the next generation of leaders, thinkers, innovators and problem solvers!

All things reading is where I love to spend my time. With me, fourth and fifth grade GTAP students get to explore various genres and themes throughout novels, short stories, and poetry. I love to challenge my students' thinking and have them question what they really know versus what the text says...or doesn't say! I am passionate about providing opportunities for my students in ELA that empower their discussions and writing.

I teach math to both fourth and fifth grade GTAP students. I love to challenge my students and watch them rise to the occasion. My goal is to provide students with the tools needed to be successful problem solvers. I address the diverse needs of my students by using a variety of resources and instructional strategies. Students engage in collaborative work, real-world projects, logic puzzles, hands-on activities, and high levels of enrichment throughout the year.

I teach Social Studies to fourth & fifth grade GTAP students. Gifted Education is something that is near and dear to my heart. I love to provide students with challenge and the motivation to acheive higher than they thought was possible. I enjoy providing students with the opportunity to be creative & to include the arts as a part of our instruction. My content allows us to work on many projects that will showcase their strengths and it allows them to think about the contributions they will make in this world.
