8th Grade Welcome Message- Semester 1

Dear Homeroom Parents,


My name is Erica C. Londoño and I will be your child’s physical sciences or life science teacher this year. The physical sciences are chemistry and physics. At our school , we cover basic chemistry during the first part of the year and basic physics during the second. Life  science is a introduction to biology.


This is my 4th year at FAST.  I choose to work at FAST because I believe in our school's vision and mission*. I love science and enjoy helping students learn to think like scientists and develop science skills, I am also a great advocate of social and emotional learning and spend time daily working with students on SEL skills.


I received my undergraduate degree in Biology (with a minor in Chemistry) from the Universidad de Los Andes (Bogota, Colombia). I have a master’s of science and am certified in Science and Biology (6-12 grades). I  am also endorsed in TAG.


During the first week of school, I will have the opportunity to meet your children and begin the process of getting to know each one individually.  We will review our school's vision and mission as well as discuss our class' syllabus.  Afterwards, students will begin learning about the chemical composition of matter, its structure and properties.  Students will also start their work on their 8th grade year-long capstone projects.


I am happy to be part of the 8th grade team and hope that this year will turn out to be great for your children.
