8th Grade Welcome Message- Semester 1

Dear Homeroom Parents,

I hope  you and your family are well. This year, I 'm looking forward to being your child's homeroom and physical sciences teacher. 

This is my 6th year at FAST.  I choose to work at FAST because I believe in our school's vision and mission*. I love science and enjoy helping students learn to think like scientists and develop science skills.

I received my undergraduate degree in Biology (with a minor in Chemistry) from the Universidad de Los Andes (Bogota, Colombia). I have a master’s of science and am certified in Science (6-12 grades)  and Biology (9-12 grades). I  am also endorsed in TAG (also known as a gifted endorsement). 

During the first week of school, I will have the opportunity to meet your children and begin the process of getting to know each one individually.  We will review our school's vision and mission as well as discuss our class' syllabus.  Afterwards, students will begin learning about the chemical composition of matter, its structure and properties.  Students will also start their work on their 8th grade year-long capstone projects. You will be getting an email  with a lot more information about the capstone project within the first few weeks of school.

I am happy to be part of the 8th grade team and hope that this year will be great for your child.
