AVID students are expected to maintain good attendance and at least a "C" average in scholastics as well as excellent citizenship inside and outside the classroom. The AVID student's goal is to enroll in a four-year college/university straight out of high school and without remediation courses.
Who is an AVID Student?
AVID students are students in the middle, capable of completing a college preparatory path with support. These students are often not realizing their full potential academically.
In the identification process, a number of criteria are considered, including:
Show academic potential
Maintain a grade point average between 2.0 - 4.0
Demonstrates good citizenship behavior
Have a good attendance record
Exhibit desire and determination
Economically disadvantaged
Have appropriate classroom behavior
Are willing to commit themselves to studying and homework each night

9th Grade: AVID Elective
10th Grade: AVID Elective
11th Grade: AVID paired with AP Language OR AVID Elective
12th Grade: AVID paired with AP Literature OR AVID Elective
