Music A Level: Eduqas board
In Year 1, you will be using skills learned at GCSE Music to apply to the areas of Appraising and Composing.
Do take the opportunity to listen to as varied music as you can for wider listening practice and composition ideas.
The three areas of Appraising will be;
Development of the Symphony (1750-1900)
2 set works: Haydn Symphony no. 104 and Mendelssohn Symphony no.4
Musical Theatre/Rock and Pop/Jazz
Focus on 6 composers including Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Schwartz for Musical Theatre or music of the 1960s-2000s for pop or 5 jazz styles for Jazz
Into the 20th Century
2 set works by Debussy and Poulenc
2 mini set works from each of; Impressionism, Expressionism and Neo-Classicism
Software used at the College includes;
Sibelius
Logic
At home, you could use Noteflight or Musescore as alternatives to Sibelius.Â
