Most of you will have a smart phone or know someone who does. Lets see what you know about it.
a. One type of software is the operating system. What type of operating system does you phone have?
b. The operating system is a really important part of your phone. Give me two examples of what the operating system does on your phone.
c. Your phone can use different types of connectivity, one example is 4g mobile broadband, can you name two other types of connectivity it uses?

Databases are the foundation of most IT systems. Your personal data might be held on hundreds or thousands of databases!
a. Explain what a database is.
b. Can you name at least three types of organisation that have your personal data on their databases?
c. Identify theft happens when your personal and / or financial data is stolen from databases. What practical steps can we take to prevent our identify being stolen from IT systems?

a. Technology has the potential to do many good things in the world! Watch this clip about “GiveVision” goggles.
b. Emerging technology is also causing negative impacts on individuals and society. Read this article about “Deepfake” videos.
c. Please investigate technology news to find 2 news stories about the impact of AI in the last few months explain a balanced evaluation of the positive and negative effects that AI is having on the world.
