ACCOUNTING  (A level)

Accounting students develop quantitative data analysis and interpretation skills whilst mastering computational and calculation techniques used in professional accounting practice. These are skills highly in demand in today's data driven society. You will build knowledge and understanding of key concepts, principles and techniques that you can apply to real-life scenarios, developing the ability to solve problems logically, analyse data methodically, make reasoned choices and communicate your conclusions effectively.

Studying for an A level in accounting will introduce you to both financial and management accounting; internationally recognised as key to the success of small, medium and large businesses in the modern business world. Financial records and accounting reports tell the story of how a company is performing financially, so accounting is often referred to as the language of business. Behind every successful company is a skilled accountant – who understands how to use their knowledge of finance, mathematics, statistics, and economics to grow a business.

A finance background can be of use if you aspire to work in a managerial role for any organisation in the future. About 49% of the CEOs of FTSE 100 companies came from a financial background either holding an accountancy qualification or having held a previous finance role (www.accountancyage.com).
