FSD Parents As Teachers Program

Farmington Parents as Teachers (PAT) has proven itself through the most straightforward test, the test of time.  It was one of the four pilot sites started in 1981 in the State of Missouri along with Ferguson-Florissant, Francis Howell, and Independence.  The mission of PAT is to provide the information, support, and encouragement parents need to help their children develop optimally during the crucial early years of life.  This is a free program available to any family with children under the age of 5.

The Farmington School District PAT program offers developmental screenings for families of young children and provides opportunities for families to interact with other families while engaging in interesting learning activities. Play, Stay, Learn group connections happen twice a month as well as other activities like storytime at our local library. For more information on the award-winning FSD Parents as Teachers program visit our website or contact our office at (573) 701-1300 ext. 2913

Operation School Supply

Since 2019, Operation School Supply has provided all the supplies for each of our 1st  through 4th grade students.  This community volunteer organization works year-round to collect donations and supplies for our students. Teachers are able to stop by before the first day of school and pick up all the supplies their students will need for the year!  This has been a huge undertaking and has greatly helped the students of our district!  If you would like to get involved or donate to Operation School Supply you can do so by emailing them at operationschoolsupply@gmail.com .

Habitat For Humanity

Every Monday that school is in session, Farmington High School students volunteer at a Habitat For Humanity project in our area.  Each seminar class takes a turn working at one of the sites. Every student has an opportunity to participate in this important community service project.  Dr. Brian Reeves has developed the schedule for the classes to attend and collaborates with Mrs. Linda Dickerson at Habitat for Humanity to make this opportunity possible.

FHS Internship Program

The FHS Internship Program is offered to all FHS students.  Students receive high school credit if they work at least 30 hours total and participate in our work/soft skills training.  Internships take place during the summer school session.  Experiences like these are provided to support career exploration through hands-on opportunities to observe and engage in relevant work and obtain information about a potential career path. We are thankful for the many community partners who have opened their doors to the FHS Interns!

Dayse Baker Learning Center Partners With Cedarhurst & CTA

Dayse Baker students and staff have participated in several community service projects this year. Most recently they created and donated ornaments to Cedarhurst Senior Living Community and visited with residents.

Students and staff have worked all semester with CTA Cares as well. They collect, organize and pack food items to send home with students in need in our district.

FMS Brings Awareness &      Helps Local Families

This winter the Girls Group organized a service project, and sold FMS lanyards and tree cakes during lunch. They followed this with a big event, a few girls staying after school to bake for a bake sale the following day. Girls Group made about 500 items, which resulted in over $300 raised for families in need this winter. They connected with Seasons of Hope to adopt several families for Christmas to provide and shop for items on Christmas wish lists for kids in need. The girls wrapped the presents and look forward to knowing that they're providing for others this season of giving.

During their fall pep assembly FMS had a "GRAY OUT" for Brain Cancer Awareness. Cheerleaders and Football players supported a fellow classmate, and he was captain of the last home football game, participating in the coin toss. During the assembly, everyone wore gray, and advisories did a service learning project to learn about brain cancer, posting facts and support for families affected by cancer. Football players' families organized a "Bald for Bucks" head shaving to show support for their fellow player, who lost his hair as a side effect of his chemotherapy treatments, raising money for the family as they continued treatments. Even Coach Bob got in on the action, as well as Coach Barron and Winick for a shave! Wonderful job by all the families who organized this event. The boys supporting each other was a heartwarming thing to see, as kids show compassion and empathy for others.
