We're excited to introduce the 2026 FNH softball coaching staff - a dedicated team committed to building strong athletes, leaders, and a winning culture on and off the field
A Fargo South graduate, Coach Myer was born and raised in Fargo and currently resides in West Fargo with his wife, Sam, and their two daughters, Riley (5) and Avery (3). He brings a strong coaching background, a deep connection to the local community, and a passion for youth development both on and off the field.
Myer began his coaching career in 2018 as a junior varsity coach at West Fargo High School. After four seasons, he was named head varsity coach at Northern Cass High School, where he spent the last four years building a program centered on culture, player development, and competitive excellence.
In addition to coaching, Myer helps operate a long-standing daycare center in West Fargo alongside his wife and mother, who has led the business for over two decades. This role has allowed him to stay closely connected to families in the area and support early childhood growth and care.
A multi-sport athlete growing up, Myer played baseball, hockey, and soccer throughout high school. He continued his baseball career at M|State Fergus Falls for two seasons before transferring to Valley City State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in business and completed two more collegiate seasons.
Fastpitch softball runs in the family—Myer’s father, Gary Myer, was a longtime pitcher in the local fastpitch scene. Anthony followed in his footsteps and has played men’s fastpitch for the past nine years. He currently competes with the Fargo Knights, a team with deep roots in the region. He has participated in multiple NAFA World Series tournaments and earned All-World Team honors in the “A” division in 2019.
“I’m excited and honored to lead the Spartan softball program,” Myer said. “I’m passionate about helping student-athletes grow not only as players but also as people. I look forward to building strong relationships, fostering a positive team culture, and continuing the proud tradition of Fargo North softball with energy, accountability, and heart.”
Coach Macy is a proud graduate of West Fargo High School, Class of 2020, where she was a four-year letterwinner and a standout contributor to the school's softball program. During her high school career, she helped lead her team to two North Dakota State Championships in 2017 and 2019, along with two Eastern Dakota Conference (EDC) regional titles in those same years. She served as team captain her senior year in 2020 and capped off her playing career with a summer state championship that same year.
Following high school, Macy was recruited to play NCAA Division III softball at Wisconsin Lutheran College. During her freshman season, she appeared in 22 games, going 1-for-1 at the plate, stealing five bases, and scoring 11 runs.
Macy began her coaching career in the summer of 2021 with the 18U Dakota Select team and has since continued coaching summer ball with the Northern Cass 18U program for the past three seasons. She has also volunteered with the Northern Cass varsity team for the last two years, bringing her playing experience and passion for the game to the next generation of athletes.
Outside of softball, Macy enjoys spending time with family and friends and relaxing at the lake. She is currently on her way to earning her Doctorate in Pharmacy at North Dakota State University (NDSU).
Coach Mikayla Johnson is a 2019 graduate of West Fargo High School. During her high school career the Packers won three EDC titles and three North Dakota State Championships in 2016, 2017, and 2019.
After high school, Mikayla continued her playing career at North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS). Her freshman season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but she returned determined and focused, helping lead the Wildcats to a strong sophomore campaign that culminated in a 5th-place finish at the NJCAA national tournament. She graduated from NDSCS in 2021 and went on to play an additional year at Valley City State University.
Currently, Mikayla works as a pest technician. In her downtime, she enjoys spending quality time with friends and family and adventuring with her dog, Remy.
Mikayla has several years of coaching experience, working with athletes ranging from 12U to 18U in competitive summer programs. She’s passionate about player development, building confidence, and creating a positive team culture. She is excited to bring her knowledge, energy, and love for the game to the Fargo North softball program and looks forward to helping student-athletes grow both on and off the field.
Coach Emma Johnson is a 2023 graduate of West Fargo High School, where she was a four-year letter winner. She was on the 2019 State Championship team and earned All-EDC and All-State honors in both 2022 and 2023. She capped off her high school career by being named the EDC Senior Athlete of the Year her senior season.
During her time at North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS), Emma made an imitated impact to the team. As a freshman, she was named NFCA First Team All-American, Region 13 MVP, and earned Mon-Dak All-Conference Team honors. She followed that with an even more dominant sophomore year, helping lead the Wildcats to an NJCAA Division III National Championship. That season, she was recognized as the NJCAA Player of the Year, NJCAA First Team All-American, NFCA First Team All-American, NFCA Pitcher of the Year, Mon-Dak Conference Most Valuable Pitcher, and the NJCAA DIII Softball World Series Most Outstanding Offensive Player.
Emma now attends North Dakota State University (NDSU), where she is majoring in Psychology with minors in Human Development & Family Science and Criminal Justice. She also works at a home daycare in West Fargo and enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
As a coach, Emma is passionate about mentoring young athletes and sharing her love for the game. She brings both high-level experience and a deep understanding of teamwork, resilience, and player development.
Andrew Potter joins the Fargo North Spartans coaching staff with extensive experience and a lifelong connection to the game of fastpitch softball. He spent multiple seasons as an assistant coach at West Fargo High School and previously volunteered under Coach Myer at Northern Cass for four years.
Fastpitch is in Andrew’s blood—he grew up watching his dad, Benjie Potter, compete at a high level, and went on to build over 20 years of his own men’s fastpitch playing experience. He currently plays with the Fargo Knights, where he continues to compete and develop his knowledge of the game.
Andrew brings strong game IQ, leadership, pitching knowledge, and a passion for teaching young athletes. The Spartans are excited to have him on staff this season.
Olivia Paumen is a 2020 graduate of Maple Lake High School from Maple Lake, MN, where she was a five-year varsity starter. During her time with the Irish, she earned First Team All-Conference honors from 9th through 11th grade. The team won the Class AA State Championship in 2018 and earned a runner-up finish in 2017, with Olivia being named to the All-Tournament Team during the 2018 championship run.
After high school, Olivia continued her education at North Dakota State University, where she is completing her Doctor of Pharmacy degree. She has worked with a variety of youth softball programs and camps, developing a strong understanding of the game and a passion for helping young athletes grow.
Outside of softball, Olivia enjoys staying active by spending time outdoors and playing pickleball. She has a strong love for the fast pace and competitive nature of the game and is excited to work with the team while sharing her passion for softball with others.
