Makerspaces

A makerspace is a place where people come together to design and build projects. Makerspaces typically provide access to materials, tools, and technologies to allow for hands-on exploration and participatory learning.

Library Makerspace Activities (activities alternate)

  • Earbud Holders: Creating a plastic device to wrap earbuds around so they can be stored without tangles.

  • Kind of Creepy Monsters - Create Halloween figures with toilet paper holders and craft supplies.

  • Turkey Decor- Create a turky with an old CD and craft items.

  • Book Pumpkins: Create a pumpkin out of a recycled book.

  • Gratitude Notes: Give someone you appreciate a special homemade note personalized with your own message of gratitude. All materials used are recycled supplies. It’s an awesome feeling to let people know you are thankful for them. Parents, guardians, teachers, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and friends would love to receive a handmade note.

  • CD Coasters: Create a cool looking coaster made out of recycled CDs

  • Build a Robot: Build a MakeBot Car or Tank - Watch a video here.

  • Green Screen Projects: Put yourself into another universe by adding a video or image behind you. You can create pictures or videos using the green screen.
