Brenda Cain

I am the librarian at Washington Elementary School in Fargo. Library has been a second career for me as I spent 26 years in middle school before finding the library. The makerspace and coding lessons fit right in with my passion to help kids find ways to create.

I love to read middle grades books best of all. My favorites have strong, developed characters with lots of action to keep my students engaged. I like many genres but gravitate toward realistic fiction and historical fiction. I also enjoy to trying to figure out which book might be the next Newbery winner each year with the help of students.

I am the librarian at Horace Mann Roosevelt Elementary in Fargo. I even attended Horace Mann was I was in elementary school. I love books and I am always looking for new ways to bring new and old titles into lessons to share with my students. I have discovered a new passion in literature with diversity and inclusion. In my spare time, I am usually attending my daughter's basketball games or reading with a cat or 2 on my lap.

I’m a librarian at Lewis and Clark in Fargo. I love beautifully illustrated children’s picture books and 100% believe in the power of reading to inspire, build empathy, and expand our horizons. My favorite “kid” books to read are picture book biographies and middle grade fiction.

Stephanie Newland

I am the librarian at Madison Elementary and McKinley Elementary. Prior to that, I have been an elementary classroom teacher, speech-language pathologist, special education (LD) teacher, and a gifted services teacher.

I have loved reading my entire life! I particularly enjoy fantasy, mystery, and historical fiction. I also enjoy nonfiction because I love learning new things. For several years I have conducted a Mock Newbery with my students. It is so much fun speculating about who might be the next winner.

I can usually be found with a book in my hand and a cat on my lap when I have some down time at home.
