The Franklin & Marshall men's basketball team (3-0) returns home to the Mayser Center to begin conference play with a matchup against Ursinus on Tuesday, November 21 at 8 p.m. It is the lone game of the week for the Diplomats, who will not play again until next Tuesday. F&M has won each of its first three games to begin the 2023-24 campaign, marking the first 3-0 start to a season since 2018.
Last Week
Facing Elizabethtown at home and Lancaster Bible on the road, the Diplomats defeated both the Blue Jays and Chargers by double-digits last week. On Wednesday, F&M led by just four heading into halftime before outscoring Elizabethtown 44-19 in the second half to win 79-50. As a team, the Diplomats held the Blue Jays to 5-of-31 shooting from the field in the final 20 minutes, and shot 26-of-49 from the floor themselves on the night. In Saturday's contest against Lancaster Bible, F&M fell behind 24-17 in the first half before ending the frame on a 19-3 run. Coming out of the break, the Chargers would cut the deficit to four, but a 9-5 run for the Diplomats put F&M up 52-42. It then outscored Lancaster Bible 13-6 over the next four minutes to take a 17 point advantage. Last Time vs. Ursinus
In the backend of the 2022-23 season series between F&M and Ursinus, the Bears held on to a 77-73 win over the Diplomats at the Mayser Center. The score saw 12 lead changes and eight ties on the night, most crucially in the second half, when F&M led 41-36 before a 12-0 Ursinus run that spanned over five minutes put the Bears ahead for good. With just over one minute left to play, Ursinus took a 12-point lead, but a 13-5 Diplomat run brought the score to 76-72 with 14 seconds remaining in regulation. Ursinus Team Preview
The Bears enter Tuesday's contest with a 2-2 record, coming off a 92-54 domination of Rosemont College. After defeating FDU-Florham in its season opener, the Bears dropped their next two tilts to TCNJ and Widener, both by double-digits. Through four games, four players are averaging double-figures for Ursinus, led by Trevor Walls with nearly 19 points a game. A 2023 All-Centennial Conference Honorable Mention, Walls posted over 20 points in the first two games of the season and has shot over 50% from the field on the year. On the boards, the Bears have been out-rebounded 32.8-32.0 as a team. Ursinus is also turning the ball over more than its opposition, with 16.3 giveaways per game.
