The Diplomats wrap up the road portion of their regular season in Chestertown
Last Time Out
After a tough one-goal loss to Rowan, the Diplomats returned to their winning ways with a 10-9 victory at Dickinson. The Diplomats raced out to a 9-4 lead in the middle of the third quarter before holding back a late comeback bid from Dickinson to remain undefeated in Centennial Conference play. The 10-9 final in Carlisle kept the Diplomats perfect in conference play. Lydia Cassilly, Lauren Pittman, and Claire Book all tallied twice throughout the victory. The Diplomats finished with a 27-25 advantage in shots and 20-14 edge in shots on goal, but 12 combined saves from Dickinson's goalie duo kept the game interesting late after the Diplomats had won each of the first three quarters of play.
Izzy Spagnuolo finished with two of Franklin & Marshall's six caused turnovers during the Centennial Conference win. Sara DiGiovanni picked up the win after making seven saves. Aiding the defensive efforts were a team-best three ground balls from Ellen Kelly and Belle Dintino, while Pittman came away with six draw controls in addition to her two goals on the attacking end of the field.
Last Time vs. McDaniel
Despite rainy conditions a year go, F&M scored the first five goals, led 10-2 after the first quarter, and won by a 20-5 final against the Green Terror during the 2024 season. Lane Lambeth, Lydia Cassilly, and Gillian Brennan each finished with hat tricks for the Diplomats, while Madison Bray was the leading point producer with two goals and four assists. Lauren Pittman was just behind her with one goal and four assists. In total, 13 different players scored for the Diplomats in the rainy conditions. Among those players came the first goals of the season for Megan Bizub, Myranda Beebe, and Amelia McCarthy.
Franklin & Marshall also limited McDaniel's chances on the attack with a 16-12 advantage in draw controls and 22-12 edge in ground balls, while limiting the Green Terror to just 9-of-14 on their clearing attempts. Belle Dintino and Alyssa Moran were two of the 10 Diplomats who finished with a caused turnover, leading the team with three each. Dintino additionally led F&M with four ground balls, while Moran picked up the win in goal during the first half before Sara DiGiovanni and Mary Scally handled the action in the crease during the second half.
Last Time vs. Washington College
In the 2024 matchup with the Shorewomen, F&M was in the midst of a roll that Washington College could not slow down as the Diplomats picked up their fourth consecutive double-digit victory with a 20-5 win. Lydia Cassilly was one of six Diplomats who finished with multiple goals as she found the back of the cage a team-leading five times and totaled six points throughout the conference victory. Gillian Brennan's hat trick was part of a four-point performance for her, with Avery Briggs, Adde Hollander, Lane Lambeth, and Kate McLam also scoring twice during the win.
Both teams finished the afternoon with 10 saves as Alyssa Moran got the start and stopped five of the six shots she faced. Sara DiGiovanni made five more saves before Mary Scally came in for the remaining minutes of game action. Franklin & Marshall won both the draw control (14-13) and ground ball (15-9) battle against the Shorewomen while limiting the visitors to just one-of-seven on their free-position shots. Bowyer finished with a team-best four draw controls, while Lambeth was one of two players with multiple caused turnovers to go with two more draw controls.
McDaniel Preview
McDaniel enters the week looking for its first Centennial Conference win of the season after going 5-3 in non-conference action. The Green Terror's last victory was a 14-5 win against Wisconsin-Eau Claire in the middle of March before they hit the challenging conference slate. Kat Thayer (29 goals) and Paris Conord (23 goals) are the team's leading goal scorers. Thayer has also registered 19 assists for a total of 48 points. Four different players on the Green Terror defense have caused at least 10 turnovers, led by Emily Conklin's 19 caused turnovers. Caleigh Kohr has started every game in goal this season and has made 86 saves on the year.
Washington College
The Shorewomen are battling for a playoff spot and postseason seeding as they enter the week with a 3-2 record in Centennial action. Washington College has only lost conference games by a single goal to Swarthmore and Muhlenberg, but will play the top three teams in the Centennial Conference standings during the final eight days of the regular season. Mia Salvatierra leads the team with 49 goals on the year and is one of five players who has scored at least 20 times for the Shorewomen who come into the game averaging over 13 goals per contest. MaryCate Anson is the team's best option on the draw with 74 draw controls, followed closely by 53 DCs from Anna Wilson. McKenna Seashole has started every game this year and has a 43.5 save percentage to go along with a 13.37 goals against average for this high paced team.
