Last Week
Franklin & Marshall officially clinched its spot in the Centennial Conference Tournament with a 14-12 win against No. 17 Swarthmore. The Diplomats scored eight of the final 11 goals after trailing by three midway through the third quarter. Teddy Scarborough was named the USA Lacrosse Magazine National Player of the Week after making a career-high 19 saves during the win. Tied at 12-all after the Garnet tallied with 3:46 to play, Dillon Mannix scored twice during the final two minutes to ultimately give the Diplomats the victory. Those goals gave him a team-leading four goals on the day, with Jack Luviano and Mason Montrella adding their own hat tricks to the winning effort. The Diplomats claimed a 32-28 advantage in ground balls. Owen Krause won eight face-offs, including two huge wins late, to finish with a team-high five ground balls. Ten different Diplomats finished with multiple ground balls, while Luke Topley, Kai Kelly, and Jackson Barnhill each caused multiple turnovers.
The Diplomats' week started against rival Dickinson as F&M gave the No. 16 Red Devils all they could handle in a thrilling Centennial Conference matchup that ultimately went to Dickinson by a 9-8 score. The Diplomats were within a goal with 9:25 to play in the fourth quarter, but could not find the equalizer during those remaining minutes. The Red Devils held the edge in both shots (33-26) and shots on goal (25-12), but a huge 16 save performance from Teddy Scarborough kept his side in the game all night long. Pierce Archer forced two caused turnovers to lead a defense which saw six different players record a CT. Owen Krause handled the bulk of the face-offs, winning eight of his 18 restarts to finish with a team-best four ground balls.
Last Time vs. Gettysburg
It was a defensive showdown when F&M traveled to Gettysburg during the 2024 season. The Diplomats held the nationally-ranked squad to its lowest offensive output of the season, but it was not enough in the 8-5 final. The Diplomats led 4-3 heading into the halftime break, but a 5-0 third quarter in favor of the Bullets swung the momentum in favor of the hosts. Teddy Scarborough made his first collegiate start and saved 17 of the 25 shots on goal that he faced as the hosts finished with a slight 38-35 edge in shots. F&M won the ground ball battle by a 31-24 edge, with Adam Soper going 9-for-17 at the face-off X. He collected eight of the team's ground balls on the afternoon. Owen Hire caused a pair of GC turnovers as the Diplomats forced eight giveaways throughout the game.
