Our vision is to develop False Bay Veterinary Clinic as a key member of the community!
We aim to do this by offering essential veterinary services for everyone's pets, while promoting education and awareness about the relationship between humans, domestic animals, wildlife and the natural environment.
We believe that we can become one with the unique community that make up the wonderful seaside village of Muizenberg!

Meet our Team!
Dr Luca Mendes
Dr Mendes graduated from the University of Pretoria’s Onderstepoort Faculty of Veterinary Science in 2012. During his first three years as a vet, he worked in Dubai, the UK and other parts of South Africa before moving to Makhanda in 2015.
While working, he went on to complete his Masters in Conservation Medicine through the University of Edinburgh in 2017 and eventually moved down to Cape Town in 2021. He has a strong passion for animal health and multi-disciplinary topics such as One Health and Conservation.
His dream is to be part of a community that truly values the bond we share with animals and where there is a genuine respect for our natural resources and wildlife.
René and Brian
René and Brian work tirelessly to ensure that your pets get only the best care while they are in our hospital.
René , our head nurse, runs a tight ship and prides herself in her dedication and exceptional care of the animals in her hospital.
Brian has a natural gift when it comes to animals and takes great pleasure in assisting with restoring health to all animals, great and small. Brian is also a dedicated house/pet sitter and groomer.
Paige and Tawny
Paige and Tawny head up our Reception team, where you will always be greeted with a warm smile.
All of our Reception personnel are VNA Certified, which enables them to make educated suggestions on specific diets for the better health of your pets.
With continued education programmes, managed and operated by our suppliers, we ensure that we are up to date with all the latest in over the counter medications and treatments.
Cathi runs our Admin department and helps to ensure that everything is working like a well-oiled machine.
Patience
Patience is our behind-the-scenes Mary Poppins!
Thankfully Patience decided to stay on when the clinic was sold to Dr Luca; so we are lucky to have her on our team.
No job is too big or too small for Patience and she gets into all the nooks and cranny's. Always smiling and with a hearty laugh, Patience is our Angel.
Engelbert Nel
Engelberts' passion and true love of animals shines through as he gets down on the floor with your pet!
Engelbert studied through Equine-Librium and has a BSc in Veterinary Physiotherapy.
He uses physical manipulation techniques as well as laser therapy to get the desired results; while getting the owners involved in the process
Consultations with Engelbert can be booked through reception.
Poppy
Poppy's story is one of pure might!
Broken and battered and left in the gutter for dead, a kind soul brought Poppy in to be "put out of her misery".
Dr Luca took one look at her and just knew he had to save her..... and the rest, as they say is history.
