All about Mr. Scott's Technology class

Mr. Scott is a Google for Education Certified Educator in route to becoming an Advanced Educator and Trainer.

Pre K - Grade 2

Up through grade 2 students are learning how to understand basic safety and security concepts and to attain a basic understanding of safe information sharing. Students will explore what it means to be a good digital citizen by observing and describing how people use technology and how it can influence them.

Students in grades pre-kindergarten through grade 2 will develop the skills needed to use basic digital tools, perform research, communicate or exchange information and create simple digital artifacts.

Students will be able to understand that computing devices take many forms and have different components while considering the basic structures of computing systems and networks. They will explore human and computer differences to determine when technology is beneficial.

In relation to computational thinking, kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade students will explore abstraction through identification of common attributes. They will create and enact a simple algorithm, use basic models and simulations and even create a simple computer "program." Students will be able to understand how information can be collected, used and presented with computing devices or digital tools.

Beginning in Grade 3, students are introduced to Google Suite. We create projects using Google Docs and Google Slides. Students in grades 3-8 use Google Classroom to keep up with their assignments and turn in their work.
