Fair Lawn Child Study Teams- Student Services Department

The Child Study Team (CST) in each school may be comprised of a school psychologist, school social worker, and/or a learning disabilities teacher consultant. Each school within the district is serviced by a full team.

If a student is determined to require special education and related services, team members work with parents, teachers, administrators and other professionals to develop an appropriate Individual Education Plan (I.E.P.) for the student.

Middle School Counselors help Our Children Find Success in School by

• Helping develop positive attitudes among students, towards self, family and community

• Counseling with students individually and in groups to understand and appreciate their unique qualities and to grow personally and socially.

• Supporting students in developing an individual plan for academic success.

• Developing and delivering classroom guidance lessons that teach skills such as making healthy decisions, resolving conflicts and respecting others.

• Assisting students in becoming invested in their school success by showing them how school performance relates to career opportunities.

• Working collaboratively with students to identify and remove barriers that may impede student achievement.

Fair Lawn High School Guidance Department

The Guidance Department at Fair Lawn High School is designed to help you with your academic, social and vocational needs. We will provide support and direction through interventions that run through a team approach where students, faculty, administrators, parents/guardians and the Child Study Team all work together to plan for students' success. Our counselors are committed to ensuring that your academic program is tailored to meet your specific needs and goals for the present and future while concurrently working on student social emotional development.

Social Emotional Learning Program

Harmony Program - K-4

Harmony is a social emotional learning program utilized in Fair Lawn Elementary Schools designed to foster communication, connection, and community both in and outside the classroom and develop boys and girls into compassionate and caring adults.

Additional Mental Health Programs

Care Plus School Based Services

Therapeutic Services provided by Licensed Clinical Social Workers conducted in the school setting. This program is available for those students eligible in grades K-8.

Effective School Solutions Program

An intensive therapeutic program designed for Fair Lawn Students with mental health challenges and needs. ESS is a wraparound program located at both Memorial Middle Schools and Thomas Jefferson Middle School and Fair Lawn High School. The program utilizes licensed therapeutics clinicians to provide therapeutic services and interventions for students and their families.
