Innovation Pathways
Business and Finance Sector
Innovation Pathways is a three-year program designed to give high school students opportunities to acquire rigorous information and career experiences in specific sectors to be better prepared for postsecondary education and careers.
FHS is proud to partner with MassHire of Greater New Bedford and SouthCoast Federal Credit Union to offer the program in the sector of Business and Finance!

Year 1: Students join in 10th grade*. They enroll in Algebra II and Computer Applications/Office 365 (considered a required technical class and taken on Edgenuity).
Students have the opportunity to:
1-Complete college and career activities
2-Complete career immersion assignments, and
3-Obtain the Microsoft Office Specialist Certification (MOS)
*To ensure equitable access, FHS is offering students multiple entry points (10th, 11th, or 12th, as long as students complete program requirements)
YEAR 2: Students will enroll in Economics and one rigorous class from the list*
YEAR 3: Students will enroll in Financial Literacy & Consumerism, and one rigorous class from the list*
Students can complete the required 100-hour internship in 11th or 12th grade (Year 2 or Year 3).

In addition, Data Science will be will be offered as an enriching class.

Principles of Accounting I (Bristol Community College)
Principles of Management (Bristol Community College)
Introduction to Business (Massachusetts Maritime Academy)
AP Statistics (FHS)
Industry-Recognized Credentials:
Participants will have the opportunity to obtain industry-recognized certifications at no cost to them and their families such as QuickBooks (in Economics class), Money Smart (in Financial Literacy & Consumerism), Bank Teller Certificate (in Data Science class), and Microsoft Office Specialist (in Computer Application/Office 365 class).
These certifications can be acquired at NO COST to students and their families!
Internship:
Students in the program must complete a 100-hour internship at the SouthCoast Federal Credit Union (any of the six branches), in 11th or 12th grade.
Materials, training, and transportation will be secured.

Enhanced Support
Students will receive enhanced and consistent support throughout the program, to ensure their success and maximize the value of their experience. Academic, logistical, and psychological support will be available and provided to all participants.
In addition, the program's coordinator will hold office hours every Monday (Period 1) and Friday (Period 6) to address students issues and concerns.
