FHS Media Student Receives a National Student Production Award

Fairhaven, MA- During an afternoon livestream from New York City, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced the 2021 National Student Production Awards winners. Fairhaven High School media students gathered in the Performing Arts Center on November, 23, 2021 to view the results of the National Student Awards.

Fairhaven High School received a National Student Production Award for Music Video. Graduate Charlie Fernandes received the award during Tuesday's ceremony, and also received four additional nominations. Fairhaven High School was the only New England school to be awarded a National Student Production award.

Charlie's music video She's the Only One, received eight awards in the New England Regional competition in the Music Video, Commercial, Short Form Non-Fiction, Special Effects and Animation, Director, Editor, and Photographer categories. The film tells a love story of a girl and boy who both love great music.

During Charlie's high school career, he's received eight New England Student Production Awards and nominated for a National Student Production Award. He now studies communication and filmmaking at the Harrington School of Communications and Media at the University of Rhode Island.

Evan Pina, Jr. , Fairhaven High School senior, received a National Student Nomination for his performance in Charlie's She's the Only One Music Video.

During the watch party, the school organized a small ceremony to award Charlie and Evan their New England Regional Student Emmy Awards, a crystal pillar bearing the insignia of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Angel.

Since 2013, Fairhaven High School has achieved 28 New England Student Production Awards and 3 National Student Production Awards. The school has also been nominated for 61 New England Student Production Awards and 9 National Student Production Awards. The school's Media Arts program now leads the New England region with these recent awards.
