About Student Council

Student Council is a club where 6-8th grade students can participate to address student body concerns and organize school events and activities. Student Council is in charge of many important activities throughout the school year.

Student Council has 4 officer positions that are held by 8th graders:

  • President

- Runs the SGA meetings

- Serves as the association’s representative to Ms. Milanowycz; meets with them to discuss new ideas

- Represents Knollwood School on public occasions and school events

- Expected to cooperate with members of the SGA, cooperate with members of the faculty, and perform any other duties assigned by the advisors


  • Vice President

- Acts as chairperson of a meeting if the President is absent

- Helps manage the meeting and create the meeting agendas

- Reads minutes of last meeting

- Helps the President in organizing the activities

- Prepared to assume the duties of the President at any time


  • Secretary

- Takes minutes/notes of all meetings of the SGA

- Takes attendance at each meeting, SGA class events, and activities

- Keeps an accurate calendar of monthly activities

- Keeps SGA webpage and Google Calendar up to date.


  • Treasurer

- Keep accurate records of all financial transactions (i.e. announcing how much money was made and give an updated report of the balance)

-Works with the advisors, President, and Vice- President to form a budget

- Responsible for making a financial report at every meeting and for making a financial report for each project

- Comes up with ideas on how to raise money (fundraising)

- In charge of fundraising events


6th- 8th grade students who wish to participate and hold no position will serve as class grade representatives. There responsibilities include:

  • Participate in student council run meetings and events as much as possible,
  • Remain in “good standing.” (Good Standing means candidates must not be given detention, suspended, or expelled without the Principal’s permission to continue participating in Student Council.)


If a student is interested in any positions listed above, they can visit the "Important Documents" page to print out an application or visit the Knollwood Main Office to find one. If interested, Knollwood students will get involved, serve, and connect with his/her fellow students, staff, and community. Being a part of Student Council is an honor and a privilege.
