ABOUT THE SHOW:
Enjoy this modernized take on Shakespeare's classic romantic comedy, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, directed by Christy McIntosh-Newsom with choreography by FLHS Senior Ella Magnuson and videography by Eli Newsom.
Athens High School Student Body President Duke Theseus (Tyler Bauer) is preparing for the school's Homecoming Dance, where students are coupling up with their best "promposals." While Head Cheerleader Hermia (Isabella Capponi) is being pressured to attend with Star Quarterback Demetrius (Kyle Geriak), her heart belongs to Lysander (Jim Keller). Meanwhile, Editor-in-Chief of the school paper, Helena (Anabelle Greenberg), sets a plot in motion to win back the affection of former flame Demetrius by using Hermia as bait.
All the while, the school's Drama Club, led by its student director, P. Quince (Stacey Durrell) and star Nik Bottom (Szilvi Cimino) rehearse an original play to be performed for the students at the dance, climate change activist Titania (Claire Orriss) is staging an overnight protest on campus with her "fairy band," and overdramataic LARPers Oberon (Shaan Mehta) and Puck (Ellen Downard) are causing mischief with everyone they encounter.
The show was filmed over five days wearing medical-grade clear masks in the middle of November. These students are absolute troupers and we can't wait to share their work with you!
