"The purpose of MTSS is to provide adequate and equitable tiered support for all students—while also supporting educators and administrators to more effectively and efficiently help students. MTSS intentionally encompasses the whole child—supporting students academically, social-emotionally, and behaviorally."

2021-2022: The district participated in a Needs Assessment with Hamilton County ESC to evaluate interventions (strategies/resources) being used across the district by Intervention Specialists and Reading Center teachers. The results of this audit indicated a need for the district to evaluate its system, decision-making rules, and resources.
2022-2023: Elementary and Secondary MTSS Committees met throughout the year. The common themes included a need for clarity and consistency related to the MTSS process, including data sources, decision-making rules, and interventions. The committees developed a local definition and chose the visual above from Branching Minds to help guide understanding and conversation around MTSS in the district. Subcommittees were formed to address our three areas of focus: Academics, Behavior, and SEL.
2023-2024: Elementary and Secondary MTSS Committees continued to meet. The work focused on developing the process, establishing teams, and warehousing and sharing information. Teams made significant progress and the decision was made to begin implementing processes in the buildings. This looks different across grade levels, but all agreed to start implementation of certain elements to move the work forward.
