Hello!
I would like to take a moment and introduce myself. My name is Ms. Joya Haithcock and I am the school counselor at Fairfield Central Elementary. Your students call me Ms. J! I am so excited to be a part of such a welcoming school and community! This is my fifth year in the Fairfield City School District but it is just one of many years that I have been working with students. I have previously worked as a Licensed Professional Counselor in other districts within the area.
The school counseling program at Fairfield Central Elementary is based on the American School Counseling Association Model and our district standards. It includes a variety of services for ALL students and is designed to assist with interests and issues related to the stages of student growth in the areas of academic, career, personal, emotional, and social development. The following services will be offered for the 2024-2025 school year:
Small group counseling sessions, with parent/guardian permission, for students focusing on: grief, study skills, friendship/social skills, anger management, and many more!
Individual meetings to help students adjust to school or help with personal issues on an as needed basis.
Classroom guidance lessons with emphasis on personal/social skills, bullying prevention, academic development (study skills), and career awareness.
Referral assistance to other programs and services in the community.
Any student can request to meet with me or they can be referred by a staff member or parent/guardian. I encourage you to reach out if you have any concerns regarding your child.
Confidentiality is an important part of my role as school counselor. All information that is shared will remain confidential unless the student shares that they are being harmed, plan to harm someone else, or know of someone who is being harmed. Information may also be shared with administration and teachers/staff with student/parent permission.
I can be reached by email at haithcock_j@fairfieldcityschools.com or 513-829-7979 ext 3003
I am so excited to be here! I look forward to meeting you and your student this year!
Sincerely,
Joya Haithcock, MA, LPC
