We are very excited about starting a new year in a new way! In 6th grade, students will be grouped differently for various parts of the day. Students will have a homeroom, where they will check in for the day, and this teacher is typically a main point of contact for announcements and questions. Students will be in this group for their morning meeting and specials classes. Click on the homeroom lists to check out those groups! Twice a week students will participate in a REACH class to learn new hobbies and skills. Check out the last chart on the schedule page for REACH lists!
Most excitedly, students will spend most of their day in "academic groups, where they will engage in 90 minute classes. We are here to prepare students to become life-long learners and to promote success in all areas! We will start by introducing our theme for the year: COLLEGE!
Students will be placed into THREE groups for their academic classes: math, language arts literacy, science, and social studies. These three groups will be named after local and renowned universities that have the potential to provide countless opportunities for your student. These universities provide an environment for excellence to a diverse student body and they are committed to building a community, just like we aspire to do at Fairfield. We are proud to name our classes after these universities, and the three teachers are each a graduate of these colleges!
