Precalculus Course Info: Precalculus is the preparation for calculus. The course approaches topics from a function point of view, where appropriate, and is designed to strengthen and enhance conceptual understanding and mathematical reasoning used when modeling and solving mathematical and real-world problems. Students systematically work with functions and their multiple representations. The study of Precalculus deepens students' mathematical understanding and fluency with algebra and trigonometry and extends their ability to make connections and apply concepts and procedures at higher levels. Students investigate and explore mathematical ideas, develop multiple strategies for analyzing complex situations, and use technology to build understanding, make connections between representations, and provide support in solving problems.
Google Classroom: Students will be given the code in class. Parents/Guardians may be added upon request.
Textbook: Login information for the online textbook can be on google classroom. Students can check out a textbook from the library.
Notes: Students have access to the teacher's notes through OneNote. A link will be provided on google classroom.
Remind: Info will be given out in class.

What to expect:
Typically there is an assignment every day. Students will have 15 minutes or more in class to work on the assignment. If they don't finish in class, it will be homework.
Halfway through a chapter we will review the material with an extra practice worksheet then take a quiz (open note) the next day.
At the end of every chapter we will have a chapter review then take a test the next day.
Quizzes and Tests are designed to be completed within the class time. Only students with accommodations will receive extra time.
At the end of every quarter students will take a Notes/Folder Test. Questions will come from the calendar and notes.
All notes and assignments are posted on google classroom as well as a video of the notes (similar to what the students will see and hear in class).
Students are expected to show ALL work on assignments, quizzes, and tests. Students will NOT receive full credit if only answers are given.
Amount of Grades per Quarter:
20 Daily Assignments
3-4 Quizzes
3 Tests and 1 Project
Grades:
Daily Assignments 20%
Quizzes 30% *Quizzes are open note
Tests/Projects 50%
Extra Credit is usually available after every quiz or test.
Final Grade:
1st Semester = (1st Quarter)45% + (2nd Quarter)45% + (Semester Exam)10%
2nd Semester = (3rd Quarter)45% + (4th Quarter)45% + (Semester Exam)10%
Both semesters must average to a 70% to receive a full credit. 1/2 credit may be received if one semester is 70%.
