Opening in 2006 the building we built at the same time as Medley Court next door.
It is a concrete frame with brick walls. It has underfloor heating and double glazing.
The building has been run by various groups over the years, but is back under the wing of Exwick Community Association.
ECA rents the hall from the council and looks to make it finacially viable by hiring out the space to various groups who pay to use it. The aim is that this also allows local people to hire it for parties and get togethers or other activities that need a bigger space than they have at home.
The building keeps developing. Many remember the building when the health visitors weighed babies there or maybe the music or dance classes. In covid it was a hub for food preparation and distribution. It is regualrly used as a polling station.
It has commercial cooker and dishwasher and stainless steel preparation areas. Not formally setup for catering, but these make party catering straight forward.
In 2023 the charity was given a grant by ECOE (https://www.ecoe.org.uk/) to improve insulation and other energy saving measures to reduce the amount of energy the building uses. We aim to keep making improvements to cut waste and energy bills and make the centre keep going.
ECA is always keen to hear from new groups or individuals who want to use the centre. Also if volunteers want to help maintain and develop it they are very keen to hear from anyone.

The Exwick Community Centre is currently run by the Exwick Community Association.
Formed in 1994 Exwick Community Association was setup with dual aims, to build and run a community centre and to help the people of Exwick to help themselves and each other.
Over the years the group has worked with many other groups to run Summer Fetes, Christmas events, Litter picks, whild flower planting and other community events. ECA has also had funding from the Lottery and the city and county council to run sport, art and youth groups. We currently support an art group and a toddler group and work with Inspiring Arts to enable the weekly youth group to run.
We also work with groups like Exeter Community Initiatives and Wellbeing Exeter to help the community of Exwick to develop.
We are very keen to find other people, both to volunteer to do things, but also to be on the committee. It is also important to us to hear of projects people would like to start or see happen in the area.
