Spring Recital

Our Spring Recital will include eight unique shows. Each class is assigned one show—this is your show assignment. A few upper-level classes may be assigned to two shows.

We work hard to minimize the number of shows an individual student or family performs in. However, the more classes your child performs with and the more children on your account, the greater the possibility that your family will be assigned to more than one show.

If your student will be performing in non-consecutive shows, please be prepared to pick them up between shows. EDMC staff cannot supervise dancers who are not performing.

If your student will be performing in two consecutive shows, please make sure they are prepared with all their costumes and a snack or small meal to stay fueled. Please read below about the rules for food at the theater.

We will hold a stage rehearsal for select classes at the Kroc Theater. The list of classes and the date will be published by May 1. 

At Expressions, your child’s safety is our top priority. Only authorized Expressions staff will be allowed in backstage areas.

While backstage, dancers will be with EDMC staff and teaching assistants. We will provide games and activities for them to do during the show. They will warm up and practice their routine with their class teaching assistant.

Our staff is well-trained in helping anxious dancers remain calm and happy backstage. In rare cases when a dancer cannot be calmed, our staff members have your contact information readily available.

We encourage older students to bring a book to help pass the time backstage. Older students are permitted to bring their electronic devices, but they must be responsible for them.

Each recital show will be professionally recorded. All participating families will receive a digital download link when the video is available (approximately 3-4 weeks after the recital).

Photography and videography are strictly prohibited for the safety of our dancers and the enjoyment of all guests.

All dancers should bring a reusable water bottle labeled with their name to the recital. No drinks other than water are permitted backstage.

Please ensure your child has a good meal before they arrive at the theater. We will have goldfish crackers/fruit snacks available for our youngest dancers backstage if needed. If your child has a food allergy, please send a safe snack.

Do not send any messy or staining foods. No candy, chocolate, DAIRY, or NUT products. Prohibited foods will be confiscated from the dressing rooms. Please do not order food to be delivered to dancers at the theater. Our staff will be busy keeping everyone safe and unable to deliver food.

Dancers arrive early to check in, get settled backstage, warm up, and practice with their class backstage. Check-in times are typically 30-60 minutes before the show's start time. We will confirm check-in times for all shows by May 1.

To ensure the safety of all our students and maintain efficiency backstage, they will remain with our staff for the entire recital. We will not release students during the show, and they will not be allowed to leave the backstage rooms unattended. All entry and exit points of backstage areas will be monitored.

Dancers will be dismissed from youngest to oldest by class. At check-in, guardians will be instructed where to pick up their dancers. Dancers are dismissed 1:1 directly to their parent or guardian. 

Please send only one person to the dismissal location to ensure the process moves quickly. Dismissal can be congested, so we ask you to help us by asking guests to wait away from the dismissal area.
