Booking Guidelines

• Fly into and out of Chiang Mai, Thailand (Chiang Mai International Airport, airport code: CNX)

• Arrive between 5:00 (5am) and 23:59 (11:59pm) on the day your program begins 

  • • • Please note that you may need to depart 1 calendar day prior in order to arrive on your program start date.

• Depart between 5:00 (5am) and 23:59 (11:59pm) on the day your program ends 

**If you are considering flights with a layover in Bangkok (BKK) on the way to Chiang Mai (CNX), be sure to allow at least a 2-3 hour layover for time to go through Thai immigration & customs in Bangkok. 

Options to book your flight (once you've been notified to do so)

    • Use StudentUniverse GLA's Recommended Travel Agency

    • GLA recommends families avoid booking separate tickets with separate airline carriers and to avoid flights on Spirit or Frontier Airlines.

Unaccompanied Minor Program

• • • Unaccompanied Minor Program: Typically, this program is required by airlines for travelers 14 years & younger when traveling alone (each airline is different). 

    • Please contact us if you’ve purchased the optional Unaccompanied Minor service for your student and require a point of contact for arrival/departure.

Suggested Route

For each program, we suggest a flight route that is the most direct, with the fewest number of stops, and always leaving from a US gateway airport. Check the suggested routes on the Flight Portal. 

Bangkok Airport Coordinator

How will the Airport Coordinator support my student in Bangkok?  

We will have an Airport Coordinator this summer available during most arrival/departure times in Bangkok airport to assist with travel-related issues such as flight delays, luggage issues, etc. They will not be supervising students directly, but rather are available on standby to support with any travel hiccups. 

Who are the Airport Coordinators and where will they be located? 

• Friendly, experienced travel professionals, vetted & trained by GLA. 

• They will be moving about the arrival hall to support students who may need assistance. They will be wearing red or blue GLA T-shirt as well as holding a GLA welcome sign.
