Dr Joan Tell, Dr Emma Pitchforth and Jonathan Warren, moderated by Dr Anne Leonard and Dr Aimee Murray
Industry: Dr Joan Tell is Director of Product Stewardship and Science at Merck & Co is Director of Environmental Risk Assessment for MSD. Her responsibilities include preparing environmental risk assessments for MSD products to support global licensure, chairing MSD’s Environmental Review Committee which provides guidance for manufacturing sites worldwide and leading the AMR Industry Alliance Science Team. Joan has a PhD in environmental sciences and has been working in this area for over 30 years.
Policy: Jono Warren has worked at the Environment Agency, the agency responsible for bathing water quality monitoring in England, for 6 years. He is currently piloting a monitoring scheme for antimicrobial resistance in the environment, considering practical and scientific implementation of environmental AMR surveillance as part of standard activities.
Academia: Dr Emma Pitchforth joined the University of Exeter and the Primary Care Research Group in 2017. Prior to this she had been Associate Research Group Director at RAND Europe, a not-for-profit research organisation. Previous appointments include Lecturer in Social Science Applied to Health at the University of Leicester and Jamsetji Tata Senior Research Fellow at London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Her research interests include: Antimicrobial resistance - Sexual and reproductive health - Primary care: health systems and policy.
