Fulfilling the Framework: Strategies for Activating Information Literacy Skills for Pre-service Educators
Fulfilling the Framework: Strategies for Activating Information Literacy Skills for Pre-service Educators
How do education librarians engage with students to teach the knowledge practices and dispositions as described by the ACRL Framework? Join colleagues from across the country, and the EBSS Instruction for Educators Committee to discuss the activities outlined in the Framework Companion Document for teaching the six frames. Share methods currently in use at your own institutions. Leave the workshop with new ideas for use in your own instruction, and help build a better, stronger set of recommendations that can be used by librarians anywhere. Come join the conversation!
The session will be held from 10-11:30 am Pacific, 11 am-12:30 pm Mountain, 12-1:30 pm Central, 1-2:30 pm Eastern Standard Times.
The EBSS IFE Committee is charged with providing “a forum for librarians interested in bibliographic instruction in education; identifying the issues and problems encountered by librarians serving schools, colleges, and departments of education in colleges and universities; and developing approaches and solutions to those problems.” The current membership of the committee currently engages with with this mission by working to refine its educator-focused Companion Document to the ACRL Framework, which is currently in a final draft form awaiting formal ACRL approval for publication. The committee's annual Fall discussion event seeks to both improve the existing document, and ensure that librarians who instruct pre-service and in-service educators have opportunities to share resources and strategies.
Alison Lehner-Quam chairs the Instruction for Educators Committee. Alison is the Education Librarian at Lehman College.
