Lorelai Gilmore is a single mother who has her daughter Rory at 16 years old with her ex-boyfriend Christopher Hayden. Growing up Lorelai had difficult childhood, but not in the way you may think. He parents where rich and forced her to go to private school and balls to be the perfect daughter that they wanted even though she never was. When she got pregnant at 16 her parents where so disappointed that Lorelai felt there was no where to go but run away. She ran away to her now forever town Stars Hallow where she started a business, made forever friends and raised her daughter all on her own.

Rory Gilmore is the daughter if Lorelai Gilmore and Christopher Hayden. Her dad never really played a role in her life leaving only Rory and her Mom together. When Rory was young her public school Stars Hallow quickly realized that she was advanced in all her classes and suggested that her mother should put her in a more advanced private school to help get her further in life. When Lorelai was faced with this she could not afford to pay for Rory which is when she turned to her grandparents to pay for Rory to go to school. Rory going to a new school called Chilton lead her to 4.0 GPA and getting accept to multiple Ivy league schools and lead her to live a successful life while still maintaining a close bond with her mother.

Christopher Hayden is the father of Rory Gilmore and the ex-boyfriend of Lorelai Gilmore. When him and Lorelai had Rory it was very unexpected but he still promised to help take care of Rory along side Lorelai. Over the years Lorelai and Christopher broke up and went different ways which lead him to not talking or taking care of his daughter throughout her life causing a unsteady relationship and Rory having to grow up without a father. Later in the show Christopher marries another women and has her child which ends up being Rorys half sister.

Richard Gilmore is the father of Lorelai and Grandfather of Rory. He focuses on work and maintains his position while making sure to eat dinner every night with his wife Emily. His relationship with Rory and Lorelai is for the most part stable, he stays communicating with them and is a big influence on Rory throughout the show.

Emily Gilmore is the wife of Richard Gilmore and the mother or Lorelai and Rory Gilmore. She plays a big role in the girls life, criticizing them, helping pay for Rorys school and college, and likes to think that Rory is the daughter she never had.

Paris Geller is one of Rorys friends from Chilton that she first thought was annoying but after high school when they went to the same college and roomed together, she quickly became much closer. Although Paris is very hard on herself and hard on the people around her, Rory still considers her one of her closes friends.

Luke Danes is a owner of a small town coffee shop in Stars Hallow. In Gilmore Girls he plays the role of Lorelai's love interest throughout the film and they both watched as boyfriends and girlfriends came in and out of each others life but in the end they both stay close friends and soon became more. 

Lane Kim is Rory's closes friend from the beginning of the show to the end. They met at Stars Hallow elementary school and have been best friends ever since. Together they find a way around Lanes strict mom and go through everything side by side. Rory always supported Lane and her crazy ideas like starting a band and hiding it from her crazy strict mom and Lane would do the same with Rory. 

Sookie is Lorelai's best friend that she met when she first moved to Stars Hallow. Sookie helped Lorelai take care of Rory from the start and since then they have built a bond that cannot be broken. When Sookie had her first son she went to Lorelai for help just like Lorelai had done 16 years before practically raising both of there kids together.
