1. HOMEWORK:
Students must record daily homework using a school-issued agenda.
Homework is written on a homework board in each classroom daily.
100% attempted homework is expected.
When absent, check the absent policy (#4) for missed work.
Late assignments may not be given full credit.
At the end of each grading period students will get their “Just Desserts” if they have 100% of homework attempted and on time for every class.
2. BEING PREPARED:
Students are expected to be prepared at all times. Teachers may reward preparedness, or consider it part of the class grade.
To be prepared for every class means having:
A school-assigned Chromebook with stylus and earbuds
Appropriate writing utensils
Specific class materials (notebooks, binders, folders, etc.)
School-issued agenda
3. NOTE TAKING:
Notes are an important part of class work. Students are expected to keep an up-to-date and organized notebook (either hard copy or electronic) for each class.
Notes may be checked and/or graded periodically to assure that students are keeping up in classes.
Students are responsible for getting missed notes from a study buddy.
4. ABSENT POLICY:
Being absent is a lot of work. Absences should be avoided whenever possible.
Students must complete all missed work, on time, according to the school handbook policy on absences...for each day absent, students have two school days to make up the missed work. This includes classwork, homework, and quizzes and tests.
STEP 1: Check your email as some teachers may email you their expectations for completing missed work.
STEP 2: Check Google Classroom to download any notes or work you have missed.
STEP 3: You are expected to independently attempt missed work using resources provided by your teachers.
STEP 4: On the first day back after an absence, visit each teacher to schedule a time to make up missed instruction, get clarification on the attempted work and make up any on-demand tasks (assessments, etc.) you may have also missed.
5. BEHAVIOR:
Appropriate behavior is expected at all times. DO YOUR JOB!
Your teachers are looking to reward positive classroom behavior. Each teacher will be looking for students who show Responsibility, Respect, and Safety. For example: maintaining a positive attitude, inspiring positive behavior in others, honesty, cooperation, courtesy, unselfishness, and demonstrating fair play.
6. GRADING POLICY:
Each department weighs assignments differently, however, the grading scale is the same in each class:
A+ = 100 - 97 B+ = 89 - 87 C+ = 79 - 77 D = 69 - 65
A = 96 - 93 B = 86 - 83 C = 76 - 73
A- = 92 - 90 B- = 82 - 80 C- = 72 - 70 F = 64 - 0
In addition, some tasks are scored based upon content-level standards-based proficiencies.
The science department will use a scale of 4-0.
The general scale is as follows:
5 Distinguished command and application of content
4 Strong/solid command of content (proficient)
3 Making significant progress toward proficiency; Some content needs additional focus
2 Making some, but insufficient progress toward proficiency
1 Little to no command of content
0 Not enough evidence to determine proficiency (did not complete)
Students and parents can view grades on individual assignments or for the trimester at any time by using this online tool.
When using ASPEN, please keep in mind that you are viewing a teacher's grade book in-progress.
No grades are final until issued on a report card.
A ZERO entered in ASPEN is a conscious key stroke. It could be that the student mastered 0% of the material, or that the assignment is missing or late. Check with each teacher to inquire as to whether that assignment can be turned in for credit.
